Community Involvement

·         Bedford Housing Authority, 1979-present.  Appointed by every Massachusetts Republican and Democratic Governor as the “state appointee” since 1979. 

·         Bedford Housing Authority Chairman of the Board, 1986 – present.

·         Town Center, Inc. Board of Directors, 1981-present.  Non-profit group was formed to renovate and manage the old Union School as a town center building for meetings and activities.  Town Center, Inc. manages rentals at the Town Center, Old Town Hall, and the Budd Railroad Car at Depot Park.

·         Town Center, Inc. Chairman, 1996-present.

·         Bedford Historic District Commission, 1990-present.

·         Bedford Historic District Commission Chairman, 2000-present.

·         Design Committee for DPW building, 1999.

·         Design Committee for Town Center, 2000.   

·         Bedford Housing Authority Representative on the Community Preservation Commission, 2009-present.  The Community Preservation Commission recommends, for Town Meeting approval, the allocation of funds raised from Bedford’s Community Preservation Act for: affordable housing, historic preservation, and conservation/ recreation.

·         Member of Bedford Minuteman Company.

·         Member of Bedford Historical Society.

·         Member and past President, Bedford Players community theatre group (now defunct).

·         Managing Partner, Urban Dynamics, 1969-1978. (Privately-held real estate development and property management partnership in Boston’s South End.)

·         Married for 34 years to former State Senator Carol Amick.

·         Bill and Carol have two grown children:

o   Janet (Jennie) Moonan, age 27 – an environmental engineer in the industrial wastewater and stormwater permitting section of EPA’s Boston office.

o   Will Moonan, age 23, a graduate research assistant and Master’s degree candidate in flight test engineering at the Univ. of Tennessee Space Institute.
